WOMEN’S COUNCIL OF REALTORS CALIFORNIA STATE CHAPTER GOVERNING BOARD MINUTES JUNE 3, 2002 HYATT HOTEL, SACRAMENTO Attendees: Credential reported 66 National Members, 4 local affiliates, and 4 State Sponsors. President Betty Taisch called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Pam Vanderschoot, Napa Chapter President, led the Pledge of Allegiance. Maria Turfler, San Diego Chapter President, gave the inspiration. Cynthia Chiasson, Southern Alameda Chapter President lead us in “America The Beautiful”. Betty Taisch welcomed everyone and introduced the State Officers, National President, Barbara Lach, and National and State Governors. Introductions of Past State Presidents: Judy Myers, Nina Lyons, and Linda Hofstatter. Betty Taisch asked for a silent prayer for Mary Hall and Lynn Blumberg. Attendance: Roll call was taken by Jeri Jorgenson: 4 State Officers, 3 National Governors, 3 State Governors, 21 Chapter Presidents, 13 Committee Chairs, and Vicki Campbell, Parliamentarian. Quorum present. Treasurer report- Susan Marshall reported there is $1,500 for awards and $500.00 for misc. Judy Myers asked about the sponsorship fund and Susan explained that some of the money was brought forward from the 2001 budget. There was discussion on whether we want a one-day registration with no decision made. Jeri Jorgenson reviewed the minutes of the January 21, 2002 Board meeting. Correction of Governors qualification should read of January 2002, delete until. Corrections were made on Carol Luckenbach, Faye B. King, Cathy Zupan names. Membership- Sharon Telles, Chair: Current membership is 1507 with 27 chapters. Nominating- Linda Hofstatter, reports on the committee for 2003 candidates. Interviews took place Sunday and they are currently interviewing. The committee needs candidates for District Vice Presidents. MOTION by Sharon Telles: That the DVPs for the year 2003 do not have to have their LTG. SECOND. Discussion. Sharon withdrew her motion. MOTION by Lori Staehling: That the qualifications for DVP for the year 2002, serving in the year 2003, be amended to allow candidates to be an LTG or an LTG Candidate. SECOND. Discussion. PASSED Linda Hofstatter reported we need 5 DVP from the North and 4 DVP from the South and announced that the 2003 National Governors have been presented to National WCR. Vicky Campbell went over Parliamentary Procedures and distributed the “Campbell Cues” Guest Speaker: Barbara Lach, 2002 WCR National President. Barbara spoke on the “ WCR Vision”. Maxine Feil, Sacramento Chapter President, announced their chapters’ Vaudeville show tonight. Please plan on attending. 10:45 Break Sponsor Becky Darnel of the Home Team gave a short presentation. 11:00 Round tables with Governors, James Nevans, Bobbie Nelson, Carol Luckenback, Lori Staehling, Ruth Hayles, and Pat Fredericks. 12:00 Adjourned for lunch Lunch Speaker: Barbara Lach, 2002 WCR National President 1:30 Meeting reconvened Barbara Lach gave a short speech on the support of the officers and that we are a Trade organization and should send our members to State and National meetings. 1:40 Committee Chairs met with the LCPs and general members 2:30 Meeting reconvened: Educational Round Tables for the Local Chapters. Chairpersons were as follows: Programs-Ruth Hayles, Membership-Sharon Telles, Fundraising-Lori Staehling, Standing Rules-Bobbie Nelson and Pat Fredericks, Pinnacles-Jeri Jorgenson, and Member Involvement-Susan Marshall. 3:15 Break 3:30 Guest Speaker, Alex Creole, Senior Vice President of C.A.R. regarding Government affairs, discussed new Bills in Congress that may effect our industry. Betty Taisch introduced Toby Bailey, C.A.R. President Elect from Santa Barbara. Ways and Means- Maryjane Cambria presented Chapter Spotlights. Chapters presented were Susan Clark and Arlene Beasley-Monterey Peninsula Chapter, Yvonne Takach-Placer Chapter, Pam Vanderschoot and Wendy Lynch-Napa Valley Chapter, Barbara Safran-Contra Costa Chapter, and George Johnson and Patricia Bouie Hinds-East Bay Chapter 5:00 Announcements: Emily Link, Regional Conference San Diego, 160 registration from 10 states; Betty Taisch gave out the Standing Rules, Lorraine Abrams announced you can get the State Newsletter on our State website: www.wcrca.org.
