GOVERNORS For years I've been attending many different northern California chapter meetings and events, and yet I am amazed and pleased at a bumper year of enthusiasm and growth in WCR. Even in chapters that are staying stable in membership are growing by putting their processes in place and setting the foundation for the future. The Solono Chapter had a successful LTG class and had 38 new members to install at their April meeting. Delta had a good turnout in its first fashion show fundraising event. TriCities continued its traditional big money maker Monte Carlo Night. Napa plans a golf tournament, and San Francisco had a wonderful retreat at the start of the year, with Regional Vice President Margo Willis, that allowed them to focus on planning a few new events scheduled later this year. Contra Costa is getting a lot of mileage out of a connection with former pro football player and current motivational speaker Bubba Paris. Sacramento is trying a Variety Show. Another thing I'm seeing is more interactive participation from members of neighboring chapters. I've often commented on the fact that members were not taking advantage of the networking opportunities that come from attending meetings in towns that don't do business in their market! Hopefully more people will see the wisdom in this. There are 3 upcoming opportunities to meet lots of people in other areas, the State WCR meeting June 2-4 in Sacramento, the Regional WCR meeting June 29- July 1 in San Diego, and the July 19 networking cruise meeting on the San Francisco bay.
