Governor's Update on Chapters Respectfully submitted by Bobbie Nelson on behalf of the great local Chapter Presidents I have the honor to represent. Contra Costa Chapter, Toni A. Lane, President The third annual "Celebration of Wine and Food" event put on by the Women's Council of Realtors Contra Costa, was a huge success. We had great food, live and silent auctions, raffle, dancing and Monte Carlo night. Funds raised at the recent event at the San Ramon Community Center will benefit STAND against domestic violence, Special Olympics, the 26th Holiday Run & Walk for Health and WCR. Over 450 attended this celebration, which raised approximately $94,800. Eleven wineries participated, DJ-Ken Cellini provided the music, Classic Catering catered the event, William "Bubba" Paris, former 49er was our auctioneer, Tom Hart was the Master of Ceremonies, Bill Massuni did the photography. Other special guests attending were: Senator Tom Torlakson, Brian Lindblom-San Ramon Police Chief, Craig Brown-San Ramon Fire Department, Mervyn Fernandez former Oakland Raider, Easom Ramson and Tim Harris former 49ers. East Bay Chapter, George Johnson, President The East Bay Chapter is proud of their chapter's accomplishments. They have designed a web site and it is up and online please visit it when you get a chance. This year they have started a monthly newsletter and their 4th issues is going in mail as we speak. Every luncheon has been well attended and they are building a strong membership. Their Last event, Day at the Races was a sell out and they had to turn people away. Monterey Chapter, Susan Clark President 3rd Place winners for National Recruitment Campaign Our new chapter has blossomed! Since their first official meeting in October 2001, they have signed up 61 national members and 13 affiliate members And they are adding new members everyday They are holding wonderful luncheon meetings with great speakers In January we had a great panel with panelists from several different industries Including Robert Bailey, CAR President. In February we had a record crowd who came to hear Lorna Hines a National Real Estate trainer. March highlighted Michael Bazdarich an economic forecaster. The dedicated governing board is planning their first big fund-raiser to be held on October 12th which is a Caribbean Casino Night --this is a don't miss event. Susan is inviting everyone to come to the Monterey Peninsula to dance to a live Caribbean band, which will stir your soul, eat scrumptious food that will tickle your palate, enjoy local wines and drinks from the islands, and make a date with lady luck at the casino! Taking place at the Hyatt, we'll also have live and silent auctions benefiting the YWCA Women's Shelter and the WCR Education Fund. Hope all our WCR friends will book a mini vacation on the Monterey Peninsula that weekend. San Mateo Chapter, Denise Aquilla President San Mateo chapter is growing it's membership nicely but more importantly the attendance at our meetings has been great. For a small chapter of 30+ members our attendance at meetings has been in excess of membership numbers every month. Be sure and mark your calendar for the annual Wine Tasting and Auction, which will be held on Oct. 4th at Green Hills Country Club. Proceeds go to benefit our chapter and the San Mateo County Domestic Violence Prevention Center. This is our 4th annual one and it is getting bigger and better all the time. It is open to anyone; we always have great food and wine and loads of fun. Jackie Spier, our local Congresswoman, will be our auctioneer. We would be more than happy to provide people with additional information. San Jose Chapter, Janice Miners, President The San Jose Chapter of WCR is proud to celebrate its 50th year as Local Chapter serving the Silicon Valley Realtors with networking opportunities and personal growth. Attendance is high at their monthly meetings and they are still growing in membership at a steady pace. One of the highlights this year so far has been their Mat Hatters Tea, a new event for them but was attended well and will sure to be a not to miss next year. Hats of different style and design were worn to the high tea where a story teller shared real estate related stories and we enjoyed tea and finger sandwiches. They are almost ready for their famous fashion show and dates and flyer will be available soon.
