Governor's Report By Ruth A. Hayles, LTG 2002 WCR National Governor May 2002 I am proud to serve as one of California Governor's this year. It is an exciting time for WCR, and I am so grateful to be a part of this distinguished organization of real estate professionals. The four chapters in Southern California that I have been entrusted to work with this year are: Conejo Valley, Long Beach-South Bay, Santa Clarita, and Verdugo Hills. We are very proud of Joyce Marinelli who stepped up to the plate to become the President of the Long Beach-South Bay Chapter, and extremely proud of all the chapter members who have worked so well after the loss of their beloved president, Diana Aguillar. Long Beach will be the host of the October State meetings, and we all look forward to our journey to the "Beach." The Conejo Valley Chapter is well on its way to a successful year. Here too, Rana Linkas volunteered and was entrusted by her members to fill the shoes of the presidency despite her move and transition to a new office where she is the Manager. (You Go Girl!) Get well wishes are extended to Mary Hall, one of our long time and faithful members. Their membership is growing, and there soon may be plans for another chapter in the Simi Valley area to serve the needs of Realtor members. The Verdugo Hills Chapter has 15 members and growing, and although I have not visited their chapter within the past few months, Vivian Long, as a chapter president, is busily working with that chapter to ensure its continued success. I will soon venture in their area and offer any areas of expertise that they feel necessary, if not, I will just visit and have fun. The Santa Clarita Valley Chapter and its President Donna Russell have a growing membership this year with over 17 members. I hope to attend a Governing Board meeting with their chapter within the next couple of months. Although their chapter is about 1-/2 -2 hours drive from my locale, the warm weather in the Valley will be a welcome contrast to the cool, ocean breezes in my part of the city. Congratulations to their renewed and invigorating chapter members. I look forward to seeing all of you in Sacramento, and bring plenty of your business cards for networking with other chapter members throughout the State. |
