GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MINUTES
JANUARY 22, 2002
HOLLYWOOD RENAISSANCE HOTEL

Attendees: 95 National members, 10 non-voting members, and total of 105 in attendance.

Meeting call to order at 8:35 a.m. by President Betty Taisch

Pledge of Allegiance by Pauline Knight, Southwest Los Angeles Chapter President.

Cynthia Chiasson, President Southern Alameda County Chapter led us in "American the Beautiful"

Inspiration by Jim Cobb, President San Fernando Chapter President

An introduction by Betty Taisch of the State officers, National and State Governors, LCP's and first time attendees.

Emily Link, Region VIII VP explained who can vote today.

Secretary, Jeri Jorgenson, Roll call was taken. 4 State Officers, 3 National Governors, 3 State Governors, 24 Chapters Presidents, 14 Committee Chairs, and Vicky Campbell, Parliamentarian. Quorum present.

Susan Marshall, Treasurer presented the proposed 2002 State Budget.

Betty Taisch went over Pinnacle awards, National Rooster, Brick by Brick Campaign, and Leadership Academy. Announced the passing away of Diana Aquilar from the Long Beach Chapter.

Speaker: Countrywide Loan, Sally Doherty, Pam Johnson, Sandra Sadler, and Kathy Holling.

Betty announced fine of $5.00 for cell phones or pagers that go off during meetings.

Betty Taisch presented the LTG from our May and October National meetings. They were: Bobbie Nelson, Carol Myers, Terri Miles, Toni Lane, Carol Luckenbach, Beth Anderson, Kathy Anderson, Marie Turfler, Edna Crawford, Denise Smith, Fay King, and Sid Young. Janice Spencer will receive hers in May.

Round tables for Governors and members: Three different topics

Committee Reports:
Sharon Telles reported on the Strategic Planning on National Governors, District Vice-Presidents, Qualification, Election, and Funding. Cynthia strikes 2c from guidelines. Maxine recommend that District VP should have their LTG/ Bylaws accept the recommendation of the Strategic Planning Committee and to replace State Governors with District VP.

Bylaws -Sherry Wilson Standing Rule Motion. Article IV Section 1. The government of the State Chapter Shall be vested in the governing Board which shall consist of the officers, District VP, all current Local Chapter President, the past State Chapter Presidents in attendance and Chairs of the Standing Committee, All of who shall be entitle to Vote. Article VI 4c strike governors of the state and replace with district VP. Wherever a reference to State Governors appears in the bylaws, Standing Rules, to be replaced with District VP. PASSED

Sherry Wilson Bylaws motion: Article 10 Section 2a to be changed to read standing committees shall be awards, bylaws, education and programs, finance and budget, membership, nominating, strategic planning, ways and means. PASSED

Sherry Wilson Bylaws motion to accept the recommendations from strategic planning committee to create the office of District Vice President, which will replace the State Governors, PASSED

Sherry Wilson Bylaws moved to delete "and the nominating committee" from section B3. In the heading nominating committee add District Vice-President. Add sentence to read "nominating chair members and District Vice-President shall be an active member in good standing and must be a current or past LCP at time of elections."

Barbara Shafron bifurcates. Move to delete "and the nominating committee" from section B3. Insert heading "National Governors and District Vice-Presidents, shall be a active member in good standing, be a current or past LCP and have the LTG designation at the time of elections." Under the heading nominating committee 1st sentence to read "members shall be an active member in good standing and must be a current or past LCP at the time of elections." PASSED

Maxine Jennings, National WCR President 2001 spoke on "People, Power, and Relationships"

Committee reports continued:
Credentials: Carol Myers, envelopes with information for members when register.
Education and Programs: Rana Linka. Recommended have first meeting with Speaker and then business meeting
Expo Task Force: Ruth Hayles. Date for Expo is Oct. 9th-10th
Finance and Budget-Susan Marshall, Changes on the line items to the budget. Administrations to be clerical support Awards to be member recognition, All travel to be stipend, and # 6 should be $100 times 20.

Ruth Hayles put forth the following Motion. Governors will have $3,000 each for Stipend, Secretary and Treasurer $4,000 for Stipend. President-Elect $5,000 for stipend. President Stipend of $9,000.
PASSED

It was moved that we accept the final budget for 2002, PASSED

Hospitality: Denise Smith, Hospitality Suite in Sacramento on Sunday night in Betty's Suite
Meeting Place Planning: Bobbie Nelson. Sacramento and Long Beach meeting already done.
Membership: Linda Ellen Anderson-Suggest joint meetings and getting involved with your local Board of Realtors.
Pinnacle Lu Jayo: State does a Pinnacle for this year.
Ways and Means Mary Jane Cambria, raised $1,283 this meeting on raffles. Brenda will have an "Express Yourself" Auction at our Oct. Meeting.
Web Site-Sabrina Shewfelt: Add more information and value for our membership.
Newsletter Lorraine Abrams co-chair, two or three newsletters this year on web site. Motion to Charge $100.00 a year for ads on the web site with business card. Discussion and PASSED.

Governor's reports: James Nevans, Pat Fredericks, Carol Lunkenbach, Ruth Hayles, Lori Staehling, and Bobbie Nelson.

Sponsor First American Title Presented Ann Lamphar, Attorney who spoke on " Legal Updates".

Special Presentation by Diana Bull, CAR President 1999 and Dick Gaylord CAR President 2000. Dick will present the WCR Member of the Year 2001 this evening.

First time Attendees were recognized

Nominating Committee-Linda Hofstatter. Candidates from the committee for National Governor are Bobbie Nelson, Sabrina Shewfelt, and Pat Fredericks. Nominations from the floor were Jean Tiegen, James Nevans, and Carol Luckenbach. Voting took place. 2003 National Governors to be presented at the National meeting in Nov. are Bobbie Nelson, Sabrina Shewfelt, and Pat Frederick

Five Chapters gave presentations: Fay King, Solano Chapter, Edie Newmeyer, Coastal West Orange Chapter, Maria Turlfer, San Diego Chapter, Lynn Romaro, Coachella Valley Chapter and Maxine Feil, Sacramento Chapter.

Raffle baskets were given out.
