The 2004 Nominating Committee will be meeting on Sunday, January 25, 2004, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Room #1019 at the Westin Mission Hills Resort, Rancho Mirage. All members of the 2004 Nominating Committee including the Alternates and candidates for Nomination for Governor, please make your travel arrangements to be in Rancho Mirage early in the day on Sunday so we can start at 1:00 p.m. sharp.
At this time, we will be interviewing candidates for the positions of National Governors. The successful Nominees ratified at our State Meeting will be submitted to National WCR prior to our National Meeting in Washington D.C. as the Nominations for Governors for the State of California for 2005. Those Governors are then elected at the Annual Election Meeting in November in Orlando.
California will have three (3) positions open for Governors for 2005. The Duties of the Governors include the chartering of new Chapters and will work closely with these new Chapters and their new Officers. The Governors will encourage members-at-large membership in areas where we do not have Chapters and keep in touch with members at large, as well as serve as a resource for our Chapters in the recruitment of new members and the retention of members. They also will work with the District Vice Presidents and their assigned Chapters.
In addition to their duties above, the Governors must attend the two National Meetings including the Annual Business Meeting, the Governing Board Meetings, Officer Meetings and workshops, Regional Caucuses, and Installation of WCR Officers, as well as our three State Meetings.
Our California State Chapter Standing Rules provide the following qualifications for Governors: an Active Member of WCR in good standing, a past Local Chapter President at the time of Nomination, and a LTG Designee.
